How to book an appointment

Non-urgent advice: Routine GP Appointments

Use SystmOnline, Telephone or call at the Medical Centre to arrange an appointment. Patients are given an appointment to see a doctor within 48 hours – although we cannot guarantee that this would be the doctor of your choice.

You can see any of the doctors in the practice, but we do ask you, if possible, to see the same doctor for a continuing problem.

Urgent requests are always given priority.

If you feel your particular problem requires a longer consultation, please ask for a double appointment.

Patients have a right to express a preference of practitioner in accordance with paragraph 17 of Schedule 5 (PMS) and the practice will endeavour to do this, although we may not be able to offer such appointments within a 48 hour time frame.

Non-urgent advice: Please Note

WE ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH PATIENTS ATTENDING LATE FOR APPOINTMENTS. PLEASE ENDEAVOUR TO ARRIVE EARLY FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT AS THERE IS OFTEN A QUEUE AT THE RECEPTION DESK

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:00.

  • You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls
  • You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Specialist Care

If a GP or another member of our health care team believes you need hospital treatment or specialist care elsewhere, they will ask you where and when you would like to go. They can then book your appointment electronically while you wait.

If you would prefer to have some time to think before deciding where and when to have treatment, you will be offered the option of calling the practice later and we will be able to book your appointment then.
